sustainable materials at work
In my last semester at Purdue University, I wanted to do something non-traditional for an Industrial Design student. Materials and CMF have been a growing interest for my future, so I decided to take a leap and explore that area further. CMF can have such a large impact on consumers as they are looking at countless products everyday, but it also affects the planet.
The decisions we make as designers as we are creating new solutions can have a large impact on the world; the use of certain plastics, process for manufacturing, or even the kind of finishing's we want to use. Some of those things can be quite harmful and are not always considered until after the fact. My goal with this capstone was to create a resource for designers to find sustainable materials and even prompt them to explore what makes something sustainable.
